SZW at Grand Opening of New ARC Redemption Center
December 2, 2015
Scalzo, Zogby & Wittig is a longtime supporter of the ARC Oneida Lewis Chapter. So we were excited to attend the grand opening of ARC’s newest enterprise, the purchase of the Nickelback Redemption Center in Waterville.
The bottles and cans redemption center delivers new jobs to people with disabilities who will work with the current employees of the facility. As Karen Korotzer, CEO of ARC Oneida Lewis said to WKTV, “To have this opportunity to be employed as a person with a disability, I think it gives them a feeling that they have something to look forward to every day.”
We agree and that’s one of the reasons we encourage support of the ARC. People with disabilities should be able to take advantage of every opportunity to achieve their potential. And that’s what ARC is all about, opportunity and encouragement to people who can do the job but need a little extra help.
The Oneida-Lewis chapter has advanced the cause for people with disabilities since 1954. They provide educational, vocational, residential, and family support. And that’s not all. There’s also service coordination, guardianship, respite care, recreational and day rehab, clinical, senior, and children’s services to people with developmental disabilities and their families.
Take a look at the ARC Oneida Lewis Chapter’s website and you’ll be amazed at the list of services offered. Their staff of professionals assist over 2,000 people in the two counties.
From Community and Family Services to Residential and from Employment to Service Coordination, the ARC is there for any of your family or friends who need special help. ARC is a member of the New York State ARC but they also need local, community support. So, if you’re interested, we suggest you donate to the cause. You can do it right from their website. Just click on the Donate to The Arc Today link and you can help with a few clicks from the comfort of your own home.
Or you can become a member and contribute not only financially but also be an advocate for all that ARC does to improve our community here in the Utica area.
The photo above is from the ribbon cutting on December 1 at the Redemption Center. The Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce was there to help celebrate the grand opening. And yes, that’s our own Gary Scalzo on the far left representing the Chamber as a board member.
We here at Scalzo, Zogby & Wittig congratulate ARC for their enterprising approach to helping our community members with disabilities. And if you live in the Waterville area, you know where you can return all those empty Thanksgiving cans and bottles!
Until next time,
The SZW Team
