Labor Day
August 30, 2013
Much to our disappointment, Labor Day seems to mark the end of summer for most of us. But what do we really know about it? Yes, it is a big weekend for retailers, counting on the millions of shoppers looking to get the best deals. And, Yes, it also marks the beginning of the NFL and College Football season. Yay!
Labor Day was originally created to celebrate many labor associations’ strengths, and contributions to the economy in the United States. In 1882, the Central Labor Union wanted to create a holiday for their workers. Of course now it is a federal holiday, and you will find that ALL government offices and schools are closed. Many businesses also enjoy the day off. Most of us use it as a day of rest and relaxation, or simple celebration.
Tell us, how do you plan to enjoy your Labor Day?
