Ben & Franklin’s Safe Super Sunday
January 12, 2016
It’s an exciting time of the year for sports fans as the NFL’s Wildcard teams advance to the quarter-finals this weekend. And then the semi-finals and the Super Bowl on February 7, 2016. Plus, with football winding down, there’s more hockey on the weekends!
So the next few weeks are special and we expect lots of Central New Yorkers hosting home parties and inviting their friends to watch the games. That’s why we’d like to remind you that if you are the host during the playoffs or on Super Sunday, don’t ruin your good times if any of your guests have a few too many beers.
Enjoy this cartoon, The Big Game: Being a Responsible Party Host, brought to you by the “good sports” of the Insurance Information Institute.
The first thing you can do is encourage your guests to bring a designated driver. Husbands and wives, whose turn is it to be the responsible one this time?
New York State’s Social Host Liability applies to negligence in providing alcohol to any person under the age of twenty-one.
It’s a good idea for the host to take it easy on the beer to be sure he or she can make the right decisions to keep everyone safe.
In the end, it’s the host’s responsibility to make sure everyone can say afterward that, “A good time was had by all!”
So, enjoy watching the playoffs in the next few weeks or even catching a high school or Utica Comet game. But if you’re hosting the party, just be careful and have a great time!
Until next time,
Your SZW Team
