Scalzo, Zogby & Wittig has been honored to work with the Heart Association Mohawk Valley as a proud sponsor of America’s Greatest Heart Run & Walk since 1993.
This year we’ve stepped it up and are excited to announce that we are the Major Sponsor of America’s Greatest Heart Run & Walk 2020 Telethon! It’s on Friday, March 6 from Noon-8:00 PM and during the Run on Saturday, March 7 from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
And we’re hoping you’ll help us reach this year’s goal of $1,000,000!
Here’s why your donation is so important this year. The American Heart Association reports heart disease as the leading cause of death in the United States. Heart disease killed 655,381 people in 2018, which is 163.6 deaths per 100,000.
The good news is that’s down from the previous year where the rate was 165 deaths per 100,000. And life expectancy increased in 2018 by 1.2 months for adults.
This modest gain is certainly a sign of hope. We’re happy to report that the American Heart Association is taking advantage of that momentum. They’re not only stepping up their research, but also focusing on heart health education. The goal is to empower people to take action, no matter how small, to live healthier lives.
The money raised goes to lifesaving science. And the American Heart Association is dedicating itself to not only research. It’s also promoting health and well-being for all. That means your donations go toward scientific study and discovery. Plus, programs and information to get people to take action to better their heart health. Even if that action comes in very small steps.
Our President, Gary Scalzo said, “The Mohawk Valley comes together in droves to support this cause. It’s a major local event every year with thousands giving, walking, and running. It’s a top community event and we want to be a part of it.
“Heart disease is also the leading cause of death in the U.S. I’ve known so many over the years who have had heart disease. And some who have unfortunately died from it. This is why we’re so optimistic that we’ll get another spectacular response for the Telethon.”
So Gary, VP Steve Zogby, and the Scalzo, Zogby & Wittig staff will be manning the phones both days of the Telethon. Gary says that’s another reason he’s motivated to contribute. His staff is inspired to work as a team outside of their duties at the insurance agency. They develop a camaraderie contributing to such an important cause.
