We bet you didn’t know it but in 1992 the U.S. Congress proclaimed Customer Service Week to be celebrated every October. This year it’s October 6-10, 2014 and the theme is “Say YES! to excellence”
At Scalzo, Zogby & Wittig we’re glad it is because it gives us the chance to tell you about some wonderful customer service experiences we’ve had over just the last two weeks.
Savor with us the service that makes the Mohawk Valley one of the best places in New York State to live.
Symeon’s Greek Restaurant Went the Extra Mile for Us
Patty Terenzetti, our automation manager, was in charge of our annual picnic at the Deerfield Fire Hall in September. Every year we get together with our insurance company representatives and vendors to thank them for their service and let them know we appreciate doing business with them.
Here’s how Patty describes the terrific customer service she got from our caterer, Symeon Tsoupelis, owner of Symeon’s Restaurant in Yorkville:
“As I was getting ready for the overwhelming task of preparing the Deerfield Fire Hall for our picnic and had to actually take down a bunch of tables and chairs, along came two employees of Symeon’s. He sent them over early just to help me set up.
“I didn’t know they were coming, but Symeon Tsoupelis made the task a whole lot easier by sending his employees to help me. Then he stuck around to wait on our guests personally until we ended our day. Talk about customer service!”
Dick’s Sporting Goods Kept On Helping
And then there’s this one about Dick’s Sporting Goods in New Hartford from Commercial Lines Account Manager Debbie Landman:
“Last week I was in Dick’s and had picked out a soccer trainer/goal and was heading to the cash register with the box. I was stopped by an employee who asked me if it was a gift. I said ‘no—it’s for my daughter’ and he said that if I would rather have the display model, that they would take $25 off. I said, ‘Sure.’
“I didn’t have the right vehicle, so they offered to hold it in back of the store and when I came to pick it up the next day, the employee helped bring it out. He had to partially disassemble it in the parking lot since it still wouldn’t fit in the van. It probably took him about 10 minutes and he was very patient and worked at it.
“Then the next day we remembered it didn’t have the stakes with it. So we went back this weekend and that same employee helped us. They didn’t have the stakes in back, so he offered to give us some tent stakes that were for sale (8 of them) from the floor—he just put them in the bag and let us have them!”
So there you go, superior customer service right here in Yorkville and New Hartford, NY. And a toast to all of the service people in the Mohawk Valley who say yes to excellence and make all of our lives easier and better.
Until next time,
